Cuidadores De Agua

Youth from the Duwamish Valley build expertise in evaluating the source control system of the Lower Duwamish Waterway

A cohort of youth from the Duwamish Valley build expertise in evaluating the source control system of the Lower Duwamish Waterway and the importance of stewarding local waters. Youth are learning the main physicochemical variables of runoff water and are monitoring 12 rainwater drainage points within the South Park and Georgetown neighborhoods. Throughout the program, youth will learn from community, activists, and diverse environmental professionals. Their findings will culminate in a report, videos, and a community event which will inform future source control policy and projects. Through exploration and education, students will begin to imagine water's potential as well as their own, and work towards a more equitable future.
