Our primary goals are to facilitate the transition to electromobility in the Duwamish Valley community. Raise awareness and educate stakeholders about the benefits of electric vehicles and clean transportation, with a focus on zero-emission trucks and buses. Promote community engagement and participation in the project. Finally, to enhance the understanding of the environmental and health impacts of fossil fuels and promote sustainable alternatives.
DVSA is currently operating an air quality monitoring program with our youth in south park. Twice per week the youth embark on routes they strategically designed to collect vital air quality data in the region. More particularly, they are using 1.0-2.5 micron particulate matter sensors from air beam. By using mobile routes and the Airbeam sensors, the youth can collect data for most areas of South Park and then automatically upload that data to a publicly available map. We can then extract this data and analyze it to find areas with the highest concentration of pollution, and determine whether these high concentration areas overlap with vulnerable populations like the youth and the elderly. This information will help us show the community their local air quality, and who is at the most risk.
